This has got to be my number 1 'go to' cookbook. Difficulty of recipes vary, but it's ALWAYS worth the effort. Especially the lemon meringue pie. You HAVE to try the lemon meringue pie!!

British cookbooks are fun because A. I know very well that I'm not going to take the trouble to convert the metric measurements to try the recipes and B. I learn about things you can apparently just get all the time in the UK, such as quail eggs, runny honey, gammon, and cuts of lamb other than the occasional chops we get here but only at easter.

Also learned: making chutney is like making vegetable jam, which makes me wonder how it's related to vegamite. Is vegamite just overcooked chutney that's been mashed? What kind of chilli is it in the chutney recipe - are all chillis the same in the UK?

I learn so much from Mary Berry.
