I liked this book better than the first book in the series. But a lot of the stuff I didn’t really like from the first book kinda followed me into this book. I love Arc as a character. Samantha was ok I kinda liked the female main character from the first book better. I didn’t like how Samantha reacted and thought through some situations. I feel like the relationship can be developed a bit better in these books. The world building is very cool and I almost wish we got a bit more of that. All together had a fun time reading this book.

I loved this book! Arc is such a great character. I usually don't like arrogant male characters, but he was such a good mix of sassy confidence, humor, and adoration for his mate mixed with his tragic history. *Chefs kiss*

I was a little unsure in the beginning because I remembered Arc's character from Silent Lucidity and how he was fascinated by the human in that one. I didn't want it to feel like just any human would do, but I feel like this one showed that as he was looking for a human he didn't connect with several before he found something about Sam that drew him to her.

I also didn't like how almost every scene in the beginning was something bad about to happen to Sam. I couldn't help but wonder how any female in this city is surviving. All that being said, it was nice to see Arc continually be there for Sam, and by the end of the book I was rooting for everyone and couldn't get enough.

Sam was able to grow through the book from a traumatized woman with insecurities to a woman willing to fight for those she cares about.

I loved the found family aspect, too, with how Sam was able to become friends with Arc's team. I want books for all them.

I loved the banter between Arc and Drakkal! I was won over especially by the two besties, and I cannot wait to read Drakkal's story.
