Listened to the audio book, which was very well done. The lengths of the segments were huge though (7-8 hrs per chunk.) There are so many characters and I never got them all straightened out in my head, which is frustrating. I think the story could have benefited from a scientific viewpoint.

"well I'll be god damned, I Finished it"- me after I finished the last page
This is the longest book I've ever read, and I am proud I read it. I don't have too many thoughts on it though. It was interesting and I kept wanting to pick it up, but It was way too long, and I had a lot of trouble remembering who all the different characters were because there were so many.

This was the longest book ever but I really enjoyed the story. Stephen King is an amazing author and this book is well worth the read but takes some serious planning and time to get through it. All the characters were well written except that I really wanted to know what was going to happen to Ollie Dinsmore and Pfc Clint Ames I feel that there story will somehow continue. It was overall a great book and it earned each of the four stars.

I've never had the urge to shake an author's hand until reading this book. But, kudos to you, Mr. King! What made this book so appealing was the concept of a trapped city with no escape for its citizens. How often does a book make you appreciate the air you freely breathe?
One of the aspects which kept the excitement going throughout the novel were the characters and the interplay between them. There are the evil characters who enjoy the Dome's presence as an opportunity to take the role of dictator. Then there are the scared civilians. The crazed mobs. The hysteria caused by fear. The pollution and the weather changes play a role. All this with a little hopeful rationality peeking through from a select few 'good guys'.
It's most likely darker than what would normally happen in such a situation, unless you started out with Hitler as your mayor.
Was it a superb example of mastery of the English language? No! Don't take it as such - enjoy it for the plot and the apocolyptic undertone that gives just about anyone with human emotion a thrill.

Stephen King always knows how to turn the phrase around my gut and pull me in for more. I loved the imagery that wove its way through the ordinary and into the sci-fi.

Not bad. All the characters a little too black and white. The book a bit too long as well.
