While I did like this volume and had a lot of fun reading it, it wasn't my favorite volume that I have read so far. It did offer more insight into the ancient Avengers and into their battle but there is still much to be learned. I really liked the conversation between Loki and Captain America in this. Loki is such a good villain because, though you may not like him, he makes good points in his own twisted way. I like Loki as a villain, I think he's an interesting balance to all of this. While this did have some very intriguing parts and it did shed insight into more of whats to come, it wasn't my favorite but I still had fun reading it.

I didn't finish this. I was so lost on the storyline. I recognized a lot, but not all of the superheroes, but I had NO idea what was going on. I got about half way and thought there wasn't much of a reason to finish if I wasn't going to get what was happening. Marvel is so hard to read as a newbie and you're not sure of where to start. So far I've really enjoyed the Marvel Now series but this was a bust for me. Maybe I need to start somewhere else.

An avenger story featuring Iron Man and Captain America who fight with other avengers in outer space. Spiderman seems to be a bit of a jerk in this series. MS/HS

3.5 Stars!
One million years ago, an impossible assembly of Gods, mutants and monsters led by Odin vanquished a mad Celestial, and the first host was sent to earth in retaliation.
Now, dead Celestials are raining from the sky as a horde of unstoppable insects invades from below. And as the final host of dark Celestials marches on Earth, the call goes out once more... AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
It was fun! I'm really looking forward to read the rest of the series.

This was okay. I really liked half of the art, and then disliked the other half. The story was okay, but I'd hoped for more.

Leaning 3.5*, but that damned deus-ex-machina, "Oh, the fight's over now?" moment in the middle bugged me. Nevertheless, an interesting book. Looking forward to more.

Three stars for the story (not 100% sure what happened) and a million stars for the art (especially Jerome Opeña's ... such a sense of action and spot on framing beautifully rendered) ... we'll meet in the middle at four :)

I guess this should be considered a book-to-movie adaptation though they haven't done this story line yet... I've started reading graphic novels in the last year. They're fun quick reads, and there's the gratification of ingesting a story quickly. The only downside is that they are so expensive. Ecopies are as expensive as regular novels so it can be hard for me to justify purchasing a book that I know I'm going to finish in a couple of hours when compared to a novel that can take up to a week (or more, looking at you books that have been on my currently reading FOREVER). But recently I found out that my library has a whole selection of graphic novels online through the website hoopla. They've also got ebooks and audiobooks, as well as music, movies, and tv shows. Yes, I'm using this review space to tell you about hoopla. No, I don't feel compelled to justify my rating for the book. It's the Avengers we know and love with some new to me characters. Do you like the Avengers? Do you want something to read while you wait for the next movie to come out? Read this. It's a fun read.
