This was just gorgeous - such a very Australian story, the setting felt deeply familiar and so beautifully realised. The story has legends and fairytales skilfully woven throughout it that felt truly enmeshed in the landscape - if you love stories based on fairytales, this is the book for you.

Gripping prose and deeply curious folklore. I was confused the entire way through, though I suspect that that was intended.

- an absolute feast of gothic outback towns, blood, teeth, and folklore
- I could use a second read thru to really chew each chapter and connect all the interwoven stories

This short story about Betina/Tina/Tink is a slow burn and there is folklore on every page. It might not be an epic journey through a magic land, instead we learn about the frightening magic that hides around every corner in Australia.
I loved all the words!

A stunning, tense, “bush gothic” where small town Australia meets European mythology
