- Edward's relationship to Rosalie is so strange and captivating. He loathes her, but he thinks about her the most out of all his family members. Obviously, Rosalie was Bella's foil in the main series, but I never gave much thought to how that impacted Edward's perspective of her.
- The deeper depiction and explanations of Alice and Jasper's abilties were cool.Â
- I despise the way Edward's mind-reading is depicted. I think it falls into many of the pitfalls that make me dislike most mind-reading characters. The apathy, the loathing for what people think in the privacy of their own heads, the lack of any personal ethics, the fact that he is not impacted at all beyond annoyance... that's a little too flat and Christian for my mind-reading opinions. That said, there is a great moment where Edward uses Emmett and Jasper's minds as his rearview mirrors. This is the ONLY good thing Meyer wrote about Edward's mind-reading.

Moderate: Cultural appropriation, Gore, Racism, and Murder
Minor: Cursing, Kidnapping, Fire/Fire injury, Pedophilia, Rape, and Drug use
-Racism & cultural appropriation tags are more about how fucked up Meyer's portrayal of the Quileute Tribe than anything that happens in-book (though Edward is hostile toward them).__romancereader__'s review

Although his narration lines up closely with what Iâd imagined of Edward during the original saga, it confirms that his mind is an unbearable place to be.Â
And look, I know he canât read her mind like everyone else, but he is so dumb for a vampire. He was confused by every thought Bella ever had. How has this man been alive over a century and he doesnât understand the physical cues of human attraction?
My absolute favorite thing about this book was the new scenes of the Cullen family and their perspective on events from Twilight. The way that Emmett was so immediately protective of Bella despite Rosalieâs anger toward her? Heartwarming. The way Jasper wanted to be around Edward and Bella because of how strong and enjoyable their emotions were? Adorable.Â
If youâre wondering what scene ruined me most thoroughly? Edwardâs internal explanation for taking her to prom. Destroyed me. Highly recommend if youâre a masochist :)

Positives: some of the quotes were funny, the romance was still cute in its own weird way, and it was a throwback and a half to be in this story.Â
Negatives: Edward goes on a bit, doesnât he? Whatâs all this crap about pomegranates? Also just get over it Edward, this girl loves you and would like to be a vampire, please. You could stop this from being a 4 book saga (still salty about the travesty that is New Moon...) if you just did what she wanted. Thanks.
Read the rest of my review here. Iâm gonna go full Edward and say way too much! Spoilers ahead...
Anyway, yes this book was fun at times, and full of the classic Twilight angst, but WOW IT WAS REALLY LONG AND BORING MOST OF THE TIME.
