Honestly this is the one book in the trilogy that took the longest for me to get into. I almost thought of not even reading it, after all, sometimes endings can suck.

SPOILERS!
I'm glad John wasn't dead for long cuz that was painful to watch and it made Pierce seem weak and helpless which in the other books she was still just an average girl but she seemed stronger in self. Right around the time John came back she got readjusted to her skin and held herself differently.
Also.....HOW DUMB DO YOU HAVE TO BE CHARACTERS! Of COURSE it was Alex causing the imbalance, you brought him back from the DEAD!
Odd how he became Thanatos after Pierce freed the deity from Seth's body.

A good wrap up to the trilogy. Not my favorite in the series but it did wrap things up nicely.

Awful. Just awful. The entire series was a convoluted mess. Dopey, idiotic characters ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, alternately making moon-eyes at their significant others and having circuitous conversations about Greek mythology in the midst of so-called "battle scenes." The plot was something a twelve-year old fanfiction fanatic might have thrown together, and it was just as easy to follow. The characters were caricatures of their respective stereotypes (it's time for Meg Cabot to realize that she HASN'T BEEN IN HIGH SCHOOL IN LIKE THIRTY YEARS and therefore knows, quite obviously, nothing about teenagers). Pierce and John? Ugh. So much hate. When did Cabot become a foe of feminism? That's what I'd like to know.

I've pondered long and hard about why I hate Cabot's work so much nowadays. I LOVED Suze Simon in the Mediator series, and I still do. Have I simply aged out of YA literature, or has Cabot's writing truly worsened?

I think it's a bit of both. The themes so often expressed in YA literature rankle me now that I've grown into womanhood and encountered face-on the profoundly damaging sexism infused into all levels of society, including our art. Furthermore, I believe Cabot's work HAS worsened. After dozens of successful novels, Cabot likely experiences far less pressure to publish new novels of actual merit. Instead, every year or so her publisher prods at her to produce ANYTHING -- and she regurgitates this disgusting drivel.

Don't read these books, and if you want to read Cabot, stick to her earlier works.

cute book , but was too neat. I felt like I wanted more. more from the plot more from the characters and just more from meg. I also didn't care for the ending I like questions and having to imagine myself how the characters are fairing. needless to say I am not a fan of all wrapped in a bow ending.

This is not a series that I particularly enjoyed. It was a drag and while it technically wrapped up cleanly, everything was too convenient. I would recommend reading the Goddess Test trilogy instead.

Very disappointing end to the series. Nothing happens in the first 100 pages. I must admit I gave up and didn't finish it.

I've pretty much stopped reading YA recently, but I have to say that this series is definitely a good example of a good YA series.

The books kept me captivated through until the end and just felt good to read. I also love that a story like Persephone and Hades has resurfaced again from Greek Mythology. It's always been one of my favorites :)

The first book in this series was a very nice surprise. I was impressed with the mythology, the characters and the entire setting. But for some reason the second book, and now the third one too, didn't really work for me. I can't really say exactly what it was. I just didn't feel engaged, I couldn't care too much what happened to the characters and the world, I felt kind of detached. A lot of things happened, but the why didn't really seem convincing. In the end there was a slight bit of a message that reached me and brought tears to my eyes, but that was about it.

It's a pity, because the first book had potential, but it seems that the second and third book couldn't really capture me.
