I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

I very much enjoyed the book. I liked the main and supporting characters.

I wasn't impressed with vince's prowess in bed, but i could see how it could be.

It was interesting to watch their relationship grow. they didn't have insta-love, but they liked each other.

it was sort of predictable but sometimes it surprised me too.

a good historical romance all around.

As I've waited a couple of years to reread this, I've found that I can empathize with Vincent more and his struggles with his disability. I can see his emotional struggle and physical fight to be independent is a major victory because of the lack of understanding of the time period. He could have ended up even worse off than Sophie if he hadn't the support of his comrades and family.

Still it's a pretty good romance.

He still sucks in bed, but that just makes him human. :)

A sweet love story, but the “obstacles” are a bit thin and silly. Would have been nice to see a little slower character growth and overcoming real obstacles through that. Instead they’re both a bit hand-wavey magically resolved.

Me ha encantado, sobre todo la personalidad del protagonista. Es el segundo libro que leí de Mary Balogh y me gusta mucho cómo escribe los romances

Vincent Viscount Darleigh is blind. After fleeing his house after a match making attempt he goes back to his childhood home for some peace and quiet. Instead he almost gets himself trapped into another marriage and is save by Miss Sophia Fry. The next morning he learns that she has been kicked out of her guardian's house for helping him. Vincent offers Sophia marriage to which she initially refuses. He is persistant and she accepts. They go to London to get married and then they have to face his family.

I like the story. I liked the mouse and that they made up stories together. It was good.

The romance is only a distraction from the true appeal of this novel, which is HISTORICAL ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY! I would rather have read 8 more chapters of cozily improving this one dude's lot in life as a blind guy in the Regency era with scads and scads of money.
