“Live what you believe in. Keep questioning your privilege and those who have power”

A genuinely funny and enjoyable read! Whacky and lovably flawed characters, as well as hard-hitting, emotional conversations that can’t be easily resolved. Ending was too neat for me – very rom-com like (I think this was the author’s intention). Lui’s writing deserves to be performed.

This play was such an incredible read, I had to read it in one sitting! This was a meet-the-parents Christmas drama with a twist! It came complete with discussions of racism, cultural awareness, family politics, class, self discovery and so much more! I only wish I could see this performed as the characters were so complex and well developed, with a plot that had me on the edge of my seat (particularly in that final scene)! Highly recommend, and I absolutely can not wait to read more from Nakkiah Lui!
