This book was a little difficult to get into because I felt Emma was not a very kind person to Harriet, but that only got better and it makes sense in the progression of the book. I really enjoyed it and loved how Emma opened her mind and heart when she least expected it. Same goes for Knightley, which is a nice parallel to Emma's journey in the book. Jane Austen knows how to write a chatty Kathy and in this book she wrote two! It was frustratingly funny.

✨REVIEW✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the first book I’ve read by Austen and I’m so happy to say I actually quite enjoyed it!
Emma is a sharp-tongued, witty, stubborn and spoiled protagonist. It is astounding how Austen was able to write a character that is obviously flawed and selfish and yet is still likeable and relatable.
What I loved most about this book is Emma’s character development. She goes from being self absorbed and naive to being empathetic and considerate (with the help of Mr. Knightly of course).
This novel is anything but plot driven which might be a dealbreaker for many readers. It is, however, an analysis and exploration of human relations and perception.
TW: antiziganism (g slur), alcohol consumption
15/60
