Owen Jones produces an interesting and compelling read about the working class and how it is today as well as providing the reasoning to why the 'CHAV' stereotype exists and why that word should be seen as a slur. Written in the usual Jones style, it mixes strong opinions with stats that clearly back up his reasoning.

It's always wonderful when are informed in clear terms that you are wrong. This was the case with me reading this book - I always bought into the "neds will be neds" (neds being Scottish chavs) but I see now the propaganda I ingested and spread. Insightful and well argued points.

Interesting and informative, but slightly dated and covered the same ground multiple times.

Really helpful book to anybody wanting an accessible overview of class dynamics in Britain, and anybody wanting to understand the impacts of Thatcher. Interesting, helpful, would recommend.

Lots of good points but definitely missed the mark in addressing (or not) racism. Some very bold statements about race coming from a white dude
