The best in the series (so far). The love outsider POV of Costis, as we get to watch everyone in the story fall in love with Eugenides (after much suffering and antics).

I read this book for the first time 9 years ago and I can picture perfectly remember two scenes, which I was so excited to read again. They are just as good as I remember:

SpoilerTHE KISS SCENE. And the scene where Eugenides almost falls. The kiss scene is so soft and delicate, in contrast to the violence that just happened and the stress of the moment. And the fall scene, is so terrifying, I love the little moment of the Gods' interventions.

This series keeps getting better and better. I love MWT's flawless worldbuilding, her enchanting and captivating characters, and her storytelling.

Would have been a solid 5 if we had more of Gen and Irene's POVs

Very well done

So clever. Enjoyed that it's from the perspective of a complete outsider/pawn in the game. Though it felt frustrating at times to not know exactly what was going on, it was also The Point.

Might reread this series someday.

We were like halfway done with the book before anything really started happening but once again there was a bunch of fun twists at the end.
