I really wish I'd read this as a child - the Pern series would've been completely up my alley then. As an adult, this book was still fun, but nothing to really enthuse about.

This cute little book was such a delightful surprise. Now I am even more sorry I didn't continue with the Pern series sooner.
Looking forward to the sequel and more of Menolly's adventures.

Out of all of the Dragonriders of Pern books, these are my favorite. I've read them many times, but they're still a pleasure to re-read. I like the world building that occurs in Anne McCaffrey's other Pern books, but these are fun without being too dense or heavy.

Read this as a teenager and I think that it suits that age range. I can't seem to get into the head of a younger me, so I will leave this on the shelf for now.
