1.5* because... I finished it?

I've never read a book I thought of DNFing multiple times... I think the only reason I did is that I'm pretty OCD about finishing books I start. I am reading book 2 rn, mainly bc there is a neat cliffhanger and I had it ready to go, but... ya.

Pacing is horrible, there are minor editing and spelling errors. And the language... sigh. That said, the world-building is interesting and I'm curious to see where that will lead.

The spice.. is a problem. There *is* a lot of it but it's written so badly (so... unimaginative and crass? "I saw her and wondered what she looked like on my dick"... sigh). So it might be somebody's cup of tea but it isnt mine. Possibly the first book where I just skim over it to get to where the story continues. I just hope this gets better in book 2.

And finally, another love interest about that girl he got steamy with at a party that one time: "It had been a mistake to let her touch my dick at all, and I would never allows it to happen again. It was like the girl was dicknotized. While I knew damn well what I was packing and my abilities in the sheets were legendary, Maya had never experienced any level of pleasure from me to be this fucking obsessed." - So a dick will *dicknotize* you.

So ya, no finesse at all here, and some neologisms I would happily have skipped in this life and the next.

Liked the premise and dark gothic / vampire theme & was fun seeing the push and pull between Alina and Lincoln. Overall not great writing but no grammar mistakes and a quick and easy read.
