Excellent book in an excellent series. DB Jackson takes real events and weaves his own fictional tale into them. Highly recommend this series.

This is a fantasy alternative history series that has two premises, in the US (as opposed to Britain), there were private detectives that tracked down stolen property and there's magic. Other than that a nice dose of revolutionary Boston. Read them in order and enjoy.
