The Vanishing Girl by Laura Thalassa is a new adult science fiction/fantasy book. It feels more like a romance/science fiction book to me. I really enjoyed this unique story. Ember Elizabeth Pierce can teleport . . . for about ten minutes every twenty-four hours. It started when she was about thirteen. Ember has just turned eighteen and her little trips have started to change. Then Mr. Dane Richards and his men show up at her home and state they are taking her away. Ember is taken to a high security facility where she is taught how to fight, fire a gun, and etiquette with her “pair” Caden Hawthorne. Please read The Vanishing Girl to find out about Ember’s missions, Adrian Sumner, and splicing (if I write more I am bound to write spoilers). I do not want to warn you that the book ends with a cliff hanger, and you will have to wait until the next book to find out what happens. I hope the sequel will come out very soon! Happy Reading!
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

First of all
This relationship is not cute nor adorable it's disgusting, there's no way people actually falls for a pervert and a creep like him just because he was handsome and some what sexy?
What makes me even more sick is that Ember isn't fazed at all by his creepy behaviour and only sees how sexy he looks?
This book has potential, the story was interesting that i wanted to ignore all the cringe moments and keep going but this love is too disturbing for me Byyyye.

I really enjoyed this. The pace and story were great. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

I adored this book, so much. SO MUCH. Way more than I expected. The concept is exciting, the characters fun, the action solid, and the romance steamy.
This book quickly won me over with its charming writing and fantastic lead character, Ember. She is fiery, fun, and a girl with a huge heart. At her side, Caden is charming, flirty, and powerful. Their interactions helped sell me on this story, which was already packed with adventure and thrills. I enjoyed the world and the conspiracy within it.
An absolutely awesome thriller for anyone looking for an engaging romance with a thrilling plot packed with secrets and twists. I loved it!

Normally I love Laura Thalassa's books, but I just couldn't get into this and the sequel. It's just so detached from reality and not in a good way. There are just many scenarios that are so completely off the wall that it's frustrating, and there is an overall lack of consistency in this book (and the sequel).
Also, if you know anything about science this book is a giant facepalm. Really disappointing.

This book was weird, but good and interesting. It kept my interest throughout the entire book and I have no idea if there is a second book available or not but I will probably dive into that.
The Vanishing Girl is about Ember and Caden. They are a pair and can travel through teleportation. Even though I liked this book - it did have flaws. First, I don't like reading about love triangles and I don't like how the author tried to make that a thing in this book. Honestly, if it did turn out to be a real thing I would have dropped the book and I would not look for the next one in this series. Then I get that Caden and Ember became a relationship way too fast and yes it was an insta love book which also isn't one of my favorites. Oh then there's the whole she was against this whole place and the government and he was like - yeah, no it's cool .. they are cool. But since she wants to leave he's all for it?!? AND the whole who is the bad guy in this book was also annoying.
Other than that I liked the book. I didn't love it but hey - I liked it. The ending was a good cliffhanger and it definitely left me wanting more but how badly? I'll never know but if I see that it's available on my Kindle or at the library for free.. then I might get it. Other than that, I can wait.

This definitely got better as I kept reading.
There were quite a few strange things happening at the start but it made sense later on.
Things pick up when Ember is confronted with the truth that her genes were modified at birth and that's the reason she's been able to teleport in her sleep. Her parents have been trying to hide her, but the American government has finally found her and have come to collect her so she can fulfil their purpose for her as a spy in their project missions.
She also meets her 'Pair', her genetically modified partner Caden. Caden has been in the project longer than most, being handed over at thirteen by his father.
This is the second book I've read by Laura Thalassa where there's been no description of what the main character looks like. Granted there's a picture of her on the front cover of this book but there's no physical description of Ember written anywhere. We get good descriptions of other characters just not her. (Unless I missed or forgot them in both this and Rhapsodic, The Bargener series.)
Maybe that's something the Author does on purpose, so I can imagine her as I like but my mental image keeps changing all the time.
The thing that annoyed me was the horrible way Ember was treated.
She's been generally modified from birth to serve the government in spy missions and she has no say in the matter, they own her.
So when she gets to her special spy training school to learn she's just expected to know everything already. Her instructors are all like why don't you know this, or I expected better?
She's treated like a robot that they've programmed through her genes.
Minor spoilers ahead...
The parts I enjoyed the most were the teleporting. I liked that the teleporters only had ten minutes to complete there missions, it wasn't dragged out and things always progressed quickly.
I also liked the meetings with Adrian. He's the son of one of a Scientists who helped change the genes in Ember and others like her and hope he plays a bigger role in the next book.
But it was the ending that really won me over and I'll definitely be reading the next book, there's no way I can't find out what happens next!!

A mi juicio no.
