Impossível ficar indiferente a esta história tão bonita e tão triste. É um livro cheio de mensagens importantes que de certeza não vou esquecer tão cedo.

This was my second time around reading this book and it was just as (if not more) amazing than before. I cried around 4 times. I figured I wouldn't cry because I knew what would happen but it didn't make a difference because the wrtiting was still so amazing and just as heartfelt. We were really able to tell how Conor was feeling and how the monster was helping him cope with what he knew deep down in his heart and his head. But he didn't want to admit it to himself. The monster really had me feeling all the feels when he was there for Conor to help him accept his mothers condition as well as her death. The part that always seemed to make me cry was when Conor and his mom are talking at the hospital and she tells him that it's okay to be angry and mad at the world for what's happening in their lives. I also thought that it was really touching and moving and sad and just everything that the monster always came walking at the time that his mom was supposed to die.

2.5/5 stars.

I went into this one somewhat blind. I head heard what it was about but it was quite a while ago, so I didn't remember.

Unfortunately, I don't think I connected with this book in the way I thought I would. For some reason, it read like a children's book to me. I love children's books but I didn't like this as a children's book. I think it might have been the thirds person POV. It didn't connect with me.

The only things I really enjoyed about this book were the stories that the monster told. I found those really mystical and whimsical. Other than that this book kind missed the mark for me :/

I’m not crying, you’re crying.
