This deeply emotional love story between aged out rocker, Jessie and Theo, a homeless man looking for love and acceptance was dark with addiction but with light at the end of the tunnel filled with love. Each man in this story had a dark past but each had a kindness and light inside of them that was just waiting to shine through. Jessie and Theo had a very rocky path to love but with acceptance and support, they made it to their happily ever after.

Beautifully Angsty

Theo and Jessie's story was angsty, heartwarming, and had every single thing I love Charity Parkerson's books for. It packed a solid punch despite its short length, and I'm looking forward to reading Ezra's story.

I had conflicting feelings about this book. It was very well written, and the structure of the plot was pretty stereotypical but interesting, but a lot of it felt...kinda problematic. I really don't care about the age gap, I didn't even mind the instalove too much, and I guess the "young boy falls for his rich rescuer" was interesting enough, but the dependency of this couple seemed to go a little too far. I was happy for Theo when he decided to work on himself, and I was happy when Jessie decided to go to rehab (even though the whole book I was just waiting for that to happen and even when it did it didn't feel like something he realistically would have done.) But as soon as they reconnected, it was like...a really toxic dependency. I did really like the characters and I enjoyed the story for the most part, but that really rubbed me the wrong way.

The story felt like a jumbled mess. Kinda felt like jumping into the middle of something. POVs changed within a chapter. Instant love was like instant coffee.

Overwrought. I liked the prequel Beautifully Damaged so idk. I also really liked the colorful model on that one though so that might've influenced my opinion.

This quick read packed a little punch. Based on the blurb I was expecting to get crushed with angst but there was a lot of sweetness to this book actually. The MCs are flawed. There’s the opposite attract trope going on with this, so while the MCs at first don’t seem to fit together by the end you realize they are a perfect match. I’m excited to continue the series

I'd say this is a high three, but I couldn't quite make myself give it four stars. I really liked it for the most part, it was a nice and surprisingly fluffy read. That's where the disconnect came from. I expected something totally different. I thought there'd be more toxicity and angst. But what little there is all misunderstandings that were built up in the characters heads. I don't know. There are a lot of things that I feel should and could've been talked about more in depth. There's this HUGE trauma that Jesse experiences pre-book that affects him deeply but it just tacked on at the end of the book in a couple sentences. I would've loved to see his rehab days or therapy sessions. I expected his addiction to have a huge impact on the relationship but it's kind of a non-issue really. However all that said, they are cute together, I do believe they like each other enough for it to become love (though I'm not sure I believe love just yet), and I do like both characters a whole lot. There's great side characters that I'm already invested in their story so I'll for sure be reading the next book in the series.
