this was like nothing i’ve read before. this was very unique, moody, and always had be asking questions. it kind of felt like a fever dream.

The author did an amazing job of making this feel really eerie and it was a quick read but it’s not at all the book I was expecting from the blurb. It was marketed as a horror with strange town vibes where the folks are weird and disappearing but it ended up being about a couple who are having marital problems after losing a baby - it was really a depressing read to be honest!

It felt like a lot of plot points weren’t really tied together. The townspeople started being rude and there was lots of talk about the antenna but it was never linked so I’m not sure

I think this would’ve been marginally better if I could read French; it felt like some of the prose was lost to translation.

That being said, this was super underwhelming & kinda felt like a high schoolers attempt at writing ominous literary horror. Extremely choppy and disorganized with really promising passages every so often. The premise makes the antennae seem much more important than it is, and there is very little horror in this book. why people are recommending this in horror lists is beyond me. even calling it a thriller is tenuous. it’s mostly just depressing & makes less than 200 pages feel endless in a bad way

not for me. also, this isn’t included in the rating but the ebook formatting was ABYSMAL; not sure who to talk to about that but yeah. did not do the cover or the typeface justice

Devastating but doesn’t leave you depressed. Hopefully.

It's a dark and heavy subject matter but the book itself it pretty light. By his writing style and tone, the author makes you feels the emotions without dragging you down with the characters.
