In my opinion this is one of the weaker books in the ACOTAR series. The end felt incredibly rushed, especially in comparison to the first half of the book, which is almost meandering at times. Although, I appreciated the furthering of Feyre’s character much more on my second read through. Especially her looking into the Orborus mirror. I hadn’t realized before how much that impacted her character.

I would LOVE to see Sara do more with Lucien’s character, I feel like she’s saving him for his own novel. Which would be great! But, I felt so bad for him in the book, he seems so unwanted.

Overall I really do love reading these books as they are massively entertaining. Sara knows the tune to play upon my heartstrings.

This was definitely better than the first book and I must say that Maas did a really good job of
Spoilerswaying the reader to jump camp from one love interest to another. I found Tamlin okay but I didn’t really see his appeal and why Fayre fell in love so quickly, which I’m sure was Maas’ intention. This set some really good ground for Rhysand to come in and I was rooting for them pretty hard.
Also loved the setting and little side quest-ish things that happened in this book. Again, there were some pretty cringe-worthy dialogue and descriptions but it was a fun ride (like trashy tv!!!)

This instalment of ACOTAR just further cements my guilt for not picking this series up sooner! Although a behemoth of a novel for someone who rarely reads over 300 pages, I enjoyed every second and did not feel like I was wading through world building like cement like I usually do with the fantasy genre.

I’ll be honest, I can understand why someone who actually likes *fantasy* wouldn’t like this series but if you’re in it for a fun time and don’t really give a crap about academic prose or whatever it’s great, not everything has to be so serious (not dumping on SJM at all, just a note in response to criticism I heard before reading I’m here for the fun vibes)
