I really enjoyed the multi PoV that jumped from before to now. I really like when I can start putting the pieces together and realizing the road I was on was wrong and having to shift my thinking.

This group of friends really kinda are the worst. I didn’t really see the ending coming, but it’s such a fulfilling, crazy ending that my love for Detective Scutt’s character was fully formed.

I’m so excited Amblin is developing this into a series. It’ll be PERFECT!

What a thrilling read! A group of friends goes away for the weekend to do an intervention for one of the friends but nothing turns out as planned.

The body count keeps growing in this book. The book alternates from the present to a few months ago and changes narrators. This made it a little hard to follow and I had to switch back to the beginning of the chapter to see who was telling the story a few times. The ending of the book was my favorite part. I’ll admit I was surprised by the ‘villain’ and their backstory.

2.5 stars. this was so disappointing because i LOVED the author’s last book, A Good Marriage. but this one just did not compare in my opinion. the plot didn’t keep me that intrigued, and i just wasn’t very invested in it. the character julia, the detective, was honestly just borderline insufferable (in all fairness, this might’ve just been the way the audiobook made her sound, like the way the narrator narrated her) but i really couldn’t stand her and her attitude. also, the ending just felt way too convenient. usually, i don’t have a problem with this, but in this case i don’t think it worked. i don’t think certain plot points were explored or developed enough to have them have such an impact on the ending, and also be connected to it.

4.5. Finally a thriller that has good twists! Good plot, we’ll written, and a quick read.
