I made a mistake in the beginning, because reading a book after having already seen the film is useless. I found it boring and, although there were some good parts, in general it wasn't smooth at all. Indeed, I found it heavy. I was hoping there were some differences from the film, but everything is practically the same and for this reason I have leafed through the last pages, reading some parts here and there, because I already knew the end and I lost all the desire to conclude the reading.

The was also an amazing book like most of the books that I read. This story was a tragic and amazing love story. It follows two characters who were in love once and who fall in love again with only a few minor issues, like Amanda being married. Dawson, however, never really fell out of love. Everyone thought that they were doing the best for them but splitting them up, but that was exactly the opposite. This is a book that once you pick it up, you have issues putting it down. I recommend this book to anyone who like a love story with a little bit of tragedy mixed into it.

The story is quite a cliché, yes. But how it was delivered will make you see the joy in its predictability.

All I have to say is "I don't know what to say"
I think Sparks took his outline for the Notebook and The Last Song, changed around a few names, made the characters a little older, and added kids. Two teenagers in love, girl is popular and boy is not, broken up by their families because they were different and the boy had a troubled path, fast forward a couple years, the two meet back in town, the mother gives some wise advice and criticizes her past mistakes, and girl cheats on her husband and sleeps with her old lover. This is as far as I could read because I could basically predict the entire plot from the first couple of pages.

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would know that I am a HUGE fan of Nicholas Sparks. Before I started this blog, I had read "A Walk to Remember" and "A Bend In The Road", so I don't have reviews for them. I have also read "At First Sight", which you can find my review here. I love his books, the way the make me feel is exceptional, and this book was no exception.
Teenagers, Dawson and Amanda fell in love in the summer of 1984. But they were different. Way different. Amanda was a Collier, one of the royal families in town and expectations rose high for her.. Dawson was a Cole, a family famous for its criminal record, people expected him to be behind bards and have an empty future. They found comfort in each other and they were able to escape the cruel world. But at the end of the senior years, circumstances tear them apart.
Now, twenty-five years later, they go back home to their mutual friend's funeral. When they meet again, they can't deny the spark that is still there. None of them has lived the life they imagined. Dawson should have died a couple of times, but fate always brings him back. Amanda is stuck in a marriage with an alcoholic. Will this weekend change their lives? Find out the power of love in this striking new novel, by the ever talented author, Nicholas Sparks..
I loved this book. It was a great love story, just like Nicholas's author books.. He is a very talented author. I love the way he makes me cry in all his books. There was something bugging me in this novel, I don't think I can pinpoint it. Maybe it was the "ghost" aspect of Dawson's life. You don't know what I am talking about, but once you read the novel, you will.
This is a very enjoyable, romantic read. That left me crying. I will definitely read any books Nicholas Sparks writes. Recommended to fans of romance!
