At times funny, at times boring, at times I didn't agree but mostly I had no fucking clue what they are talking about. Maybe I am just too young to know half of the names in this book (the other half would be Tony Blair who is mentioned like 20 times). I started skipping the parts where I saw something I did not recognize. That way it would make it into 'alright' book to be honest. But I still expected more (given that great title which was the reason I bought this). Yes, there were funny bits and that's why I give a 2-star review, but reading it makes me want to publish my own edition and show them how it's done. Maybe one day I will.

Why aren't Steve Lowe and Alan McArthur more famous? Like, Charlie Brooker famous? This is a dictionary of the horrible things in UK during the mid-2000s, some of them, unfortunately, still going on today. It will make you think twice before stepping into a Wetherspoons again; and if you don't already hate the Daily Mail, you will.

Definitely one of, if not the, most hilarious book i have ever read. The cynicism with which he abuses a huge amount of things within Britain (and occasionally elsewhere) seems to me at least, to be delivered so well ensures its place in my British humour classics shelf. Admittedly there are some insults and adjectives that are somewhat overused, and certain topics that I didn't really understand but I'm sure if I were a little older the humour would be slightly more potent.

Not that funny; and too dependent on castigating conservatives and Christians and any other perceived dimwits for yucks. I guess everything is shit, including this book.

An ok book that made me laugh in places, however is also a little boring as well. Good for when you are angry at the world though.

Lost patience with book in the first few pages, but managed to read through to page 166 before I decided that this book should be renamed "Is it just me or is everything that this writer says in this book, shit"?
Literally there's about 3 swear words in every sentence here... a book supposedly of the humor genre, I think not, there's more to humor than excessive profanity.

1.5-2 stars.
Mmmmeh. Not great. At all. If you're not British, you won't get half of the references, that's the problem. I skipped entire pages cause there's just no point when you have no idea who/what they're ranting about. Also as it's been written over 10 years ago now, most of the stuff is outdated.
And those guys seem so bitter, I wonder if they're still alive. Did they end their life after publishing this book ? Joking. Hhh

They should not market this book as being "Americanized" because it was anything but. There were maybe 3 entries that made me chuckle. Everything else I ended up skimming through just to get to the next entry because I either didn't care, didn't agree, or didn't understand (UK references).
