I usually love dark romances with a lot of spice but this was just not a good story. The characters were awful. The MMC has no redeemable qualities. It was really hard for me to care about any of the characters. The FMC went through so much trams before she met Xavier and there was no growth throughout the story for her. She kind of just accepted her situation. I also hated that Xavier did not get punished in any sort of way.

Is there such a thing as negative character development? Cuz if so, it applies here. I struggled to finish knowing this girl insta-forgives him more than once becuz he kidnaps and confines her to a basement for 6 days . Also, why does her dad not tell her? He wants to protect her, it shows he's a loving parent, but he's willing to stand by knowing what he does? Tf? The author puts a note saying it's up to readers to decide whether the MMC is redeemable, but he never actually does anything to get redeemed.
