If you want a book about an alien invasion—the noisy action of the arrival and first contact, the group of misfits that band together to drive the aliens out—then skip this one. If you want a book that examines the greed, ambition, and fear that drive imperialism and colonialism, then this is a pretty good read.

This man can WRITE, I like his prose it feels very grounded and direct but I wish the ending was more concrete, it felt kind of open ended to me

This book has an excellent premise, and I loved the exploration of an alien invasion with discussions on colonization, but I feel like this story didn’t grip me the way that it should have. I still highly recommend this book for people who love the premise.
