Great, really enjoyable sequel to Good Bones. I think what I like most about Kim Fielding's books is sheer mundanity of it all - and that's definitely not something that would work for everyone, I'm aware - but it's like, even in this series about werewolves the majority of the action revolves around Dylan and Chris' various DIY projects on Dylan's new house? There is some minor werewolf drama but it felt a bit crowbarred in, and the ghost stuff wasn't stressful so much as funny, especially once you realised who it was and how stupid Dylan and Chris were being. The tension was really in the development of their relationship, which moves along at a fast clip but doesn't feel unrealistic because frankly they are the only two people around for miles and have no one else to talk to, for the most part. Seeing both of them open up is really lovely, and I especially liked seeing Chris's POV. I wouldn't want to read something this low-stakes all the time, but they're great for when you don't want to be high key Stressed about supernatural plots etc.

It was a very enjoyable paranormal romance. I’m even surprised by how much I liked it! Sure this book had werewolves and ghosts but the real strength was in the romance and the relationship and its growth between the two main characters.

I liked it! I was a bit hazy on the details from the previous book, like the stuff about Chris's family, but I was able to keep up.
I'll read them both again when I have time, definitely!

3.5 stars.

First of all, I absolutely don't picture the main characters to look anything like the cover illustration. On the cover, Dylan looks like a 15 year old twink and Chris looks like Eliott from Leverage. Anyway.

This installment didn't have as dramatic highs and lows as the first book. The climax wasn't quite as exciting and the stakes didn't feel as dire. It was still enjoyable, however.

One thing I noticed is a few British-isms here and there, like "Bully for you" and something else I can't remember at the moment. I've never heard that come out of an American's mouth, ever. It was pretty jarring and strange. I don't know if people use British slang in Oregon?

*slight spoiler*

Finally, there were some other interesting supernatural elements added, such as the pond, the ghost, and Chris's weird sparky thing. It'd be neat to see those developed further.

This is one of those rare books for me where I think I enjoyed the sequel more than the first one. Now don't get me wrong, I loved [b:Good Bones|13576676|Good Bones (Bones #1)|Kim Fielding|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1333502717s/13576676.jpg|19159420] but I think I loved this one more! ♡
I think it's because Dylan and Chris are together and it's still a work in progress! I've always been the one who wants a glimpse after the happily ever after ending and this was even better because it's a whole book!
The introduction of new characters was fun along with some clarity of the past! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Will definitely continue on! :)

Good catch up with Dylan and Chris in a story that addresses some of their backstory/lingering issues and by the end of the story they are on a much more solid footing than at the end of the previous story.
I guessed who the ghost was very early on.
Liked the way two comparative loners ended up with an accepting extended family by the end of the story.
Wasn't overly keen on the addition of sex toys towards the end of the story. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but I didn't see the need. None of the toys appeared in a sex scene, no one had expressed any sort of interest, it just suddenly became a thing and then Dylan was wearing a butt plug at his birthday party.
Oh and there is something in the pond...

More cute gay relationship stuff, with the spice of werewolves and ghosts.
