I read this for my bilingual & multilingual education class and it was a very eye-opening view on ESL and ELL in American schools. Though it was published in the year 1999, the story is unfortunately still extremely relevant when it comes to how non-English speaking students are treated in schools. Read in Spanish!

The story of a young Mexican immigrant named Jorge, who does not like that his classmates and teachers call him George. His experiences are related through poems - each told in Spanish and then English. This would be a great teaching tool on differences and might be a great resource when working with ESL students.
