Oh my goodness, Gabriel and Hazel's story was sweet and full of passion. There was drama and chaos as well as lies and deceit. But most importantly there was love and hope.
I loved this duet.

Sweet Little Lies and a naughty little bird

This little bird plays with fire. She likes it hot, tempting, and dangerous. She wants her feathers stroked, her wings clipped, and her cage to be hers alone. She just needs to convince her Daddy there's a new (old) man in her life.

Not gonna lie, i was expecting more playtime. JD Hollyfield teased us with the darker desires. Toyed with us leaving us panting. I wanted more. More fight.More feels. More kink.

Sweet Little Lies by J.D. Hollyfield is an erotic forbidden romance. This is the final book in the Dirty Little Lies Duet Series.

This is the second book of Jessica's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I couldn't wait to get Gabriel and Hazel's story after reading Bad Daddy. The chemistry between Hazel and Gabriel was off the charts. I loved that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I would highly recommend this book if you love forbidden romances, erotic romances or contemporary romance.

Sweet Little Lies, the other half of the Dirty Little Secret Duet, was not a sequel but more of a parallel story--slightly staggered. We met both of our main characters in Bad Daddy. Gabriel, Heath's best friend since college, and Hazel, Heath's daughter. It's a bit of a twisty mess of characters, but it works. Although we liked Heath from Bad Daddy, we get a different perspective of him here--that from his daughter's eyes.

Hazel did not have a great childhood. Her mother was an abusive alcoholic before she left, and Heath was absent. He was making money, and he just didn't pay a lot of attention to Hazel. Now they are close, but Hazel has developed a deep attraction to Gabriel Heath's best friend. We know too from Bad Daddy that Heath and Gabriel have particular tastes. Hazel decides she's waited long enough and decides to pursue Gabriel, and she is more than ready for what he has.

From there, we get the story of their romance. It's quite spicy and steamy; there's a lot of tension with the hiding that must go on. Let's face it; Heath is very aware of Gabriel's tastes, and the scene when he discovers the relationship is quite explosive. I did want to scream hypocrite once or twice. But it's different when it's your daughter, and Violet is very good at putting Heath in his place. J.D. manages to slip a nice bit of suspense into the story that moves the plot along to a satisfying conclusion. The age-gaps in these novels left me guessing as to Heath and Gabriel's ages. We know that Heath and Gabriel met their freshman year of college, so I assume they are the same age, and Violet and Hazel are the same age meeting their freshman year of college. Nevertheless, the age disparity works in these novels, and I enjoyed them.

Hazel and Gabriel are bringing the heat this winter!!!! I loved their story. It was steamy, it was emotional and I couldn’t put it down.

Hazel has been crushing on her dad’s best friend for years and now that she is about to leave for college, she is willing to take the risk and see if he feels the same. They are drawn to each other and there is now denying that these two have insane amounts of chemistry. However, Gabriel has unique interests and they aren’t for everyone.

I LOVE Gabriel. He is a merciless businessman and that extends to other interests of his. Hazel is the opposite. She is sweet and has an innocence to her. They are like fire and ice, but they are so perfect together. Naturally Gabriel is hesitant when it comes to anything with Hazel, because of his close relationship with her father, but he can’t stay away.

I loved the chemistry. I loved the emotion. I loved the drama. I loved everything about Gabriel and Hazel’s story.

If you’re looking for a steamy, age gap, forbidden, dad’s best friend romance this is definitely a MUST READ!

Whew, this is another angsty read following Hazel and Gabriel's story. Hazel is Heath's daughter from Bad Daddy and Gabe's is his best friend. So you know how messy that's going to go.

Gabe has always been observing Hazel grow up into the woman she is. But also he knows how his best friend is going to react if he knows what Gabe thinks of his daughter. On the other hand, Hazel always tries to get Gabe's reaction. She knows that it's not just her who is drawn to him because their chemistry is off the charts. So she just kept on pushing him to give in. There is a lot of things to figure out for these two. Even so, my heart broke for Hazel when Gabe's tried to deny their feelings.

Overall this is a great duet! And a must read

She's lusted for him for so long. He's wanted her for just as long. The sparks fly and the goal is to keep her father from finding out. Gabriel is a dominant alpha and her father's best friend. But, Hazel is only 18 and her traumatic childhood plays a major role in her attraction to an older man. When her father finds out, it's not pretty. Hazel can't help but think he's a hypocrite of the highest degree after falling in love with her best friend.

The author does a great job of mixing the alpha with the new adult, the dominant with the new submissive. As Hazel came to grips with her father's relationship with her best friend, I could feel the confusion and longing she had to know love as they did. Gabriel's dominance balanced out Hazel's naiveté. She wasn't an immature 18 year old; her life experiences with her terrible mother and her workaholic father matured her far older than her age. And when Gabriel told Heath, " Like a moth to a flame, she was this bright light that brought happiness into my life, and I just couldn't stop. The more I resisted her beautiful glow, the more she got to me," those were powerful words that showed Gabriel's love for his little bird.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

It’s not badly written. The author is great. It just wasn’t something that sat well with me. An older man begins a relationship with a girl he literally watched grow up.

This story fell very short of my expectations, given how much I enjoyed the first. Since he watches her grow up, I couldn’t morally wrap my head or heart around it.
