This is my favorite in the series so far!

The world, the story, the characters, friendships, relationships... all of it is just amazing.

I could be on a book high, I will admit that. But my first thoughts fresh from finishing this book at 2:30am is that this series will forever just get better and better.

We meet a few new people, one of which is such a boss woman! Lysandra and Aelin’s friendship that forms is one of my favorite parts of this book. Honestly, I like their friendship more than Rowan and Aelin’s relationship. And that’s a big deal considering how much I love a good romance!

I love a good strong female role, and to have two of them being friends and taking over the world? I’m HERE for it.

The friendship and bonds between Aelin, Chaol and Dorian are still just as great. I really enjoyed the ending with all of them. I felt like it really set the tone for the next two books (which I’ve heard you should read at the same time so I’m gonna tackle that soon)

Despite all that happened, the way things ended in this book between the original three was really nice. You could see how much they all grew and changed and yet still cared for each other. I teared up so much during the last few chapters as everything between the three of them came to a head.

Also, let me just say... so many people talk crap about Chaol but I have loved this man from DAY ONE. He will always and forever be my main man in this series and I will die on this hill. If Chaol doesn’t end up the happiest out everyone in this series I will riot. In my opinion Chaol is one of the most dynamic and well developed characters of the series. He is so very human. It feels real as you read about him and in his POV. And I cannot wait to read more about him and his adventures in Tower of Dawn.

The friendships are my favorite part of this series, but don’t get me wrong I am still living for this romance. I need more of it! Like I either need none at all and this series to just be amazing friendships and bonds or I need more investment into Rowan and Aelin’s relationship! Which I’ve heard happens in the next one, so I’m waiting for that.

So far this is the most complex and detailed sjm series and it’s not disappointing!

I was so anxious about starting this, but I'm glad I decided to take it slow. I think that really helped me to enjoy it thoroughly and not get overwhelmed. There were a lot of events that took place in this that surprised me, and I cared more about Rowan and Aedion in this book. More so than Heir of Fire. VERY interesting plot twist that I didn't see coming, and can't wait to continue!
