Growing up, I remember watching movies with the bald guy with the glasses who looked super smart. As I started to select genres that I liked and prefered as one does with age, I was still able to find him in even the strangest of movie selections- of the top of my head, He was reassuring as the doctor in a movie I found utterly boring: The First Avenger, Captain America. He was the reassuring Head designer in that cult classic The Devil Wears Prada. He was frightening in a quiet and menacing way in The lovely Bones and for a while I was hesitant to watch anything else he was in - the mark of a great actor.

Who knew Stanley Tucci was a culinary adventurer and alchemist. I started out with his show, Searching for Italy and his narration, the cinematography, his ancestral journey and the people he chose to interview reignited a love for romanticism of Italy and the Roman expeditions into flavor and experimentation.

And then, I discovered his books and as an amateur cook (doing well I might say) and an amateur baker (doing rather poorly I'll admit) I was eager to dive right into whatever he had writing. Happy to report that not only was I not disappointed - I am famished and headed to the kitchen to make a wholesome mess, drink wine and chuck some of it into the pot while simmering something delicious.

Bon Appetito!

The Tucci Table is full of recipes that are based on simple, quality ingredients and traditional flavors. These are recipes you might have been lucky to learn amongst family growing up. The instructions are brief and accessible, the ingredients not too intimidating. Nothing in here is unbearably elaborate or trendy. It would be good to own if you wanted a simple, go-to reference for classic meals, or if you like to stare at Stanley Tucci's hands while you drink wine and paste your face over his wife's.

It’s rare to find a cookbook that does NOT require $400 worth of ingredients for every recipe and $5,000 worth of equipment, even rarer to find a celebrity cookbook that does the same. Aside from a few of the meatier products, everything in this cookbook can be found at Ye Old Walmart. The Tuccis have filled their cookbook with complex-sounding but actually quite simple recipes that anyone could pull off. Favorite recipe is the spaghetti vongole, the recipe that I would never make (but would love to…) is the rabbit one

I love Stanley Tucci! Whether he’s a hypersensitive tango dancer in Shall We Dance?, the husband of a beloved cooking icon in Julie and Julia, the mischievous Puck in A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, or any one of the scores of other roles he’s had, I think he’s brilliant.

So I was bound to love his new cookbook, written with his wife Felicity Blunt (sister of actress Emily Blunt). And I did!

Tucci combines his love of classic French food (which I was enjoying for the first time that month) with the bounty of food available in North America (especially in larger cities) to present a fresh take on the food that has enchanted generations of eaters.

I'm a huge fan of Stanley Tucci's so it came as no surprise that the cookbook bearing his name was just as fabulous as the man himself.

This fantastic cook book is all about being with family and friends and cooking some fanfreakingtastic food too! While reading these recipes I just wanted to jump up and go cook! I normally like to get a sense of the meals prior to starting but my mouth was watering and the yumminess emanating from these pages.

There are many, many different recipes too. Starting with different soups and salads like tomato soup and fried calamari and moving to fish and meats of all sorts. There are so many recipes and even ingredients that I have not tried before, like Pissaladiere and the sunchoke but Stanley Tucci makes them feel accessible and easy to do. Not only easy but fun!

There are also tips from Stanley Tucci throughout the book. Little tidbits that you can add into your cooking or not. The tips went well with the thoughts and the recipes and really added an essence of his ideas into the already wonderful cookbook.

He also throws twists into recipes that we've all eaten before like tuna salad, potato salad, and shepherd's pie.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to start cooking. I already plan to do Beef Wellington for Christmas this year but I'm planning many, many meals from this before then!

In short: Get this for every cook on your holiday list. They will love it and you!
