I've never read a CYOA book with actual stats to keep track of and dice rolling. It definitely made it more randomized and interesting, although more work to read, so a trade off. I liked this as an experiment, but the writing was nowhere near as good as his later book, Augie and the Green Knight, so I was a little disappointed.

Given how much I love SMBC, I was surprised by how much I was not a fan of this book. It's boring and repetitive, and even though some parts are clever, I'm not sure I will ever replay it.

Not a bad book but it never really grabbed me. Similar humor to Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. But this is definitely one of his early attempts at writing prose. His later book, Augie and the Green Knight is much better.

OK. Great idea and I know this is Zach Weiner, but wish they would have been a little less hack and taken it just a bit more seriously. I liked the "roll" mechanism and the RPG involvement was great, but the story was poor and the way every single thing was a joke or attempt at humor was just to much.

I hope someone else takes this idea and goes a bit more serious RPG.
