This series popped up as a recommendation based on other cozy mysteries I have read. Seeing as it was part of kindle unlimited I decided to take a chance. This was a fun read. The story had a really good pace and is full of fun, quirky characters. I really enjoyed the mystery; it kept me on my toes guessing at the killer's identity. I am definitely a fan and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. Things I liked about this book:

Glory is a wonderful character. I love her back story and I find her very well developed. Her persistence and her perseverance made me really enjoy her story.

I liked the story, the mystery, the way it was set up was good.

Beverlee is hilarious. Everyone wants that flamboyant wine aunt, she’s perfect.

Hollis Goodnight is the Perfect level of cop and caring father figure.

Ian seems like a hunk with a good heart. I love that he has a bar, a boat and a dog.

The story was compelling, the side characters were interesting, Delores and Maggie were awful and I liked it.

Things that didn’t work as well for me:

There are some physical descriptors used for a couple of the women that made me cringe. Saying a woman’s nose is too big isn’t really contributing much to her character, or saying a woman is old, or too busty, etc. I’d prefer less of that kind of stuff.

There were a few too many nefarious characters. I like a red herring, but I got a little lost with how many people turned out to be bad people in this little town.

Consistency was an issue, Glory put her ring in the zipper pocket of her change purse, then a few paragraphs later she was twisting it on her finger. The deputy at the police station was Gabe, then Gage, then Gabe again. Beverlee telling Glory to watch her head getting into the car then saying it was a convertible. It just needs another go around with an editor before it goes live, is all.

Overall this is a good book, I would read more mysteries featuring Glory Wells.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
