I enjoyed this. I like reading the stories of people from a different time and era. Definitely a story of courage and survival. To survive an ordeal such as the Holocaust is a miracle in itself. To be able to have the strength to tell the story after is phenomenal. I encourage reading this along with other true life stories of what it was like during the time period.

This is a truly amazing and touching true story. If the play comes to your City, rush to buy tickets. It is one of the most powerful theater experiences that I have ever had. If it isn't coming to your City soon, you can buy the video at http://holdontoyourmusic.org/. The book is almost exactly like the play or video with maybe a few more details but lacks the emotional passion that is part of the play and video. If you are a piano music lover, you absolutely have to see the play or watch the video. Her playing is beautiful.

So, I read this book a while ago, but from what I remember this was a great Middle Grade WWII novel. I read the Young Readers edition because that was the edition I acquired but I’ve heard it’s not much different from the original. This book kind of introduced me to historical fiction/historical novels especially WWII ones. I remember really enjoying and I’d recommend it for young and old readers alike looking for a heartwarming, heartbreaking story of a young girl during the Second World War. The ending is very bittersweet and I enjoyed this book thoroughly. This memoir is not something you will easily forget.
