Logicomix is a fantastic book that works both as a story of logic origins and an introduction to it. Although I may not agree with some of the points and themes accented by the authors, I think it is certainly worth reading. Told from the perspective of Bertrand Russel, the tale takes us back at the turn of the 20th century to show us how mathematicians and philosophers across Europe to bring about the birth of a new understanding of mathematics, science, and language. Beside Russel we meet George E. Moore, Ludwing Wittgenstein, Gottlob Frege, Henri Poincore, David Hilbert, Georg Cantor, Kurt Gödel, Moritz Schlick, and, surprisingly even J. M. E. McTaggart. Alongside the struggles of the logicians of old to reimagine foundations of the "Queen of the Sciences," see the meta-level of the authors' struggle to write this particular story while living their own. Both narratives are somewhat united in Aeschylus's Oresteia, a scene of which we witness in the end.

A friend picked this book out at the library with me....he said it was recommended and I should read it. Since I am always up for a graphic novel...I carried the book home.

A disclaimer: I never got past Pre-Calculus...not because I don't love math, I do....but living abroad and the major(s) I chose in college did not allow for more math...so I opened this book with a small understanding of the philosophy and "experts" behind the subject.

The artwork was good...but the story was boooooooring. I feel like the whole book was over my head and it just made me feel stupid. The story is about the father of logistics Bertrand Russell and his search for the truth. He destroyed two marriages...and watched his friends fall into insanity/depression because of the search.

Read ONLY if you like math. Don't bother---- even if you LOVE graphic novels.

A sincere to talk about logic using graphic novels, but just fails to come together. Too much talking heads, but it is an interesting intro to the life of Bertrand Russell and some of the leading purveyors of logic.

i really disliked this, no real coherent narrative (particularly the device of going back and forth between the authors and the subject) and russell's life and work aren't presented compellingly at all. saving grace was that the little bits that they did show of russell's personal life and upbringing were interesting
