Back to my thing of NOT liking conflict between the main characters, this book wasn't as enjoyable as book 3. In addition, you sometimes wanted to smack both Cat and Bones over the head for their stubbornness. I do positively adore Spade and Vlad, and, to a little lesser extent, Mencheres. The premise wasn't as strong as the others either. Gregor was an okay villain, but the personal conflict almost outshone him and, in ways, just put him as the background issue (until the end, perhaps). You definitely didn't like him, but still. This one did have a death that was a surprise to me, but I suppose those do have to appear in books occasionally.
With my reading a book a day, everything is starting to blur together, but it also just goes to show how much I do enjoy the series too. As much as I do like Cat and Bones, I do sincerely enjoy it when the other characters make an appearance too. Which, to me, is the sign of a good series.

The first book was enjoyable due to the cheesy rip-off nostalgia vibes for being a BTVS fan when the show first aired.
But god am I sick of whiny naive Cat. I get she’s young, I get this is her first love, I get she’s stubbornly reckless to a dangerous fault. However, the hardest thing to suspend my belief for in this series isn’t the vampires, the surprise dream walking second husband, the tiresome my-mother-who-is-a complete-dick-should-always-come-first thread, or the half-bred turned vamp blood sucker (pretty cool actually). It’s the relationship between Bones and Cat. She still (after 7 years???) has the emotional bandwidth of a 15 year old and it’s so gross toggling that with hot sex scenes.
Maybe I’m too old for this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved How raw Bones and Cat's relationship was. I also loved How mature Cat has really gotten as the series progresses.

These are always such a fun read, I love having such a large, enjoyable, bingeable series to have as my palette cleanser between longer, heavier books, and these books never miss. It's always so much fun to lose myself into a world of vampires and ghouls and see what Cat and Bones are up to these days.
This was an especially fun one, as we got to dive into Cat's past and see parts of her and Bones that we haven't seen before, and the little bit of come-uppance for her mother was honestly, *chef's kiss*. A good time was had by all - except Cat's mother, and this french dude.

Amazingly fantastic on the edge of your chair book! All of the action that occurs in this book was amazing. I was truly amazing at how many secrets that one Master Vampire could keep and just how protective bones really is when it comes to Cat. In this book you really see how Cat comes into her own and learning things like maybe she should just listen to Bones on occasion and he should listen to her but again if Cat wasn't so independent we wouldn't like who she is! You really see how Bones and Cats relationship is tested through this book and trust me you wont want to miss one bit of it! The series from her continues to amaze me!
