It’s a cute story, and I love the art style!! Very evocative of 90s shoujo manga with a typical magical girl plot and tropes. Feels like the book has stopped at a cliffhanger, and I don’t know if there has been more written for this story as of yet, it’s been two years since this book was published.
Loses a few stars because the characters are pretty trope-y and there’s a touch more tell-don’t-show exposition for my liking. If you’ve read a magical girl manga or watch a magical girl anime, you really don’t need to open this book as you’ll get exactly the same typical story beats.
If it gets a continuation, I will definitely read it. I would recommend this to someone who is nostalgic for or loves the magical girls genre, but warn them that they aren’t getting anything new.

The art was beautiful. The story and lore was cool, however the plot wasn’t as developed as it could be. I feel as if a lot more could have been done with it. I’m still interested to see how the story ends.

Straightforward magical girl story.
Hilariously, they DO point out how odd it is that the newly inducted member of the team is breaking up the "Three Musketeers" dynamic...and then they go on to say that the ORIGINAL Three Musketeers had 4 members too!
Gotta give them props for using not very typical members of the produce aisle to represent the powers of the girls.
Leader is dragonfruit.
Kooky one is pomegranate.
Stoic&mysterious one is artichoke (not even a fruit!).
Newbie is pineapple.
By these powers combined, and with the "help" of a sizable support staff, they'll repel the alien invasion who waged war with a big giant head spaceship. The aliens themselves are (so far) straightforward, mustache-twirling bad guys, maybe with a lil bit of unexplained religious fanaticism, but any species that have masks where heads should be and faces in their torsos have GOT to be hiding something...
Really fun and I suppose we'll figure it out as the story progresses.

Though a bit uneven and poorly paced, FLAVOR GIRLS still at times functions as a fun homage to SAILOR MOON.
