Awe Finn! He broke my heart so many times, but Ben was his steady rock the whole time. I wish this book was longer.

Incredible, beautiful, emotional with lots of feels.

This is my first book by this author and I’m beyond impressed. Very well written with compassion and sensitivity to the issues portrayed.
Finn is a flawed man who fights daily battles on a couple of fronts. He can also be grumpy but is loveable at the same time. Ben is compassionate understanding, kind and loving, and the best boyfriend ever.

The story is told from Finn’s POV only and the focus is on him completely turning his life around. The connection and chemistry he and Ben share is joy to watch as they learn and discover so much about each other. It does make the heat level turn up to high on occasion! There is no angst and it wasn’t needed, Finn had enough on his plate without anything else thrown at him. I found it very easy to connect with the characters and at times my heart was breaking for Finn, be it from his personal battles or the toxic relationship with his mother.
I highly recommend this book.

Ben è una persona solidale e amorevole ed è stato anche di grande aiuto per Finn. Il loro legame è tangibile e molto bello.

This was a great discovery, new to me author. Glad I followed up on the recommendation from a fellow MM reader. This was challenging to read, and I truly felt Finn’s pain through his addiction and family issues. Ben is a complete treasure. I loved how he helped and stood by Finn every step of the way. Great relationship development. At times it got a little bit slow, but overall a very enjoyable read. I’m definitely looking forward to Aiden’s story.

This was not a quick fluffy read. I normally read quicker, but this book had such depth and heaviness in the story line that I found myself reading much slower. That said, though, this was a lot less angst than I am making it sound. Lol Finn hit rock bottom and finally took steps to better his life. Ben was such a sweetheart. He was calm, patient, loving, supportive, and everything Finn needed to see that good can come into your life when you aren’t used to it. These guys were so great together. I enjoyed Finn’s journey to contentment and happiness.

A wonderful, perfectly crafted story about a man who, after a very close call, must confront the darkness inside him that almost took his life. He decides to do so in a small town close to Cambridge without having a clue that that decision would change his whole life.

This is, at its core, a very powerful, hopeful story. The way in which Finn finds himself embraced for the people in town bewilders him, but it's also strangely comforting. And we can see how, slowly, he begins to work his issues. He loves his friend Aiden, but he also uses him as a crutch: a safe relationship that doesn't require for him to change. Until it does. Letting Aiden go shows how far Finn has go.

His relationship with his mother is toxic and the root of his addiction, and yes, his decision about her is also an adult, grown-up one, and another proof that he is doing a lot better.

And Ben! Ben is sweet but not naive. He understands Finn, and it's at his side all the way. Their romance advance slowly, but in a steady way, and they support each other. Real and lovely ♥

An excellent story!

Christopher Weeks does a truly great job with the narration.

This started out well enough, but as I read it, I found my enjoyment decreasing with every page. It went from good, to okay, to meh, to forgettable. The relationship between Finn & Ben seemed rather rushed, considering Finn admits to always putting up a wall and Ben saying, "I wanted to get to know you, the real you, not the person from social media, and I wanted to give you a chance to get to know me, and see I wasn't after you like some obsessed fan." Ben makes this confession on Wednesday, having only met Finn the previous Thursday and spending time together a total of six times : driving Finn to the department store, eating Chinese together, the apology & coffee the following day (Friday), hanging at Ben's on Saturday, putting the chairs together and eating lasagna on Monday, and Salsa class on Wednesday. I would have bought into this more if the relationship had more time to blossom, but this seemed rather instalove-y for someone who is trying to get back on their feet after experiencing everything Finn did (glossed over death of father, overdose, bff's heart attack, sister's miscarriage, rehab) and claiming to be untrusting and walled off.

I also found it slightly annoying how obvious it is that Aiden is in love with Finn and how oblivious Finn is to that, especially since Ben and Aiden didn't get along well. But, I suppose this way, the spinoff can be about Aiden running off with his twice broken heart, both at the hands of his bff & one-sided love....

Then there is the relationship between Finn & his mother. He blames her for his father's death and describes her as "manipulative and cruel". And yet he has never cut things off with her, chalking it up to cowardice... though Aiden also told him that he is better to have a bad relationship than no relationship, which is like telling someone that they are better off staying in an abusive relationship than being single.... but whatever.... it's just because she has depression. Or, I mean, she could just be a bitch. But depression or not, that doesn't excuse her behaviour, so I don't get why Finn would even want to mend that relationship.
