HIDDEN HARM picks up where GUARDED GROUND leaves off. The first book in the series isn't really a cliffhanger, but there is some unfinished business for Becky and Flynn.

Mystery in time of war can be tricky. There is the need to find a solution while doing one's job on the front line. It is also an opportunity to point out the advances in medicine and technology forced by the battlefront. This episode of the series finds Becky in the company of Marie Curie and her daughter Irene on a mission to aid the war effort and locate missing items vital to that effort. Flynn is, of course, part of that mission.

I appreciate the fact that Anna Elliott provides historical notes at the end of these books to let her readers know what is actual history and what is not. Combining historic figures and events with a good story is a great way to impart archival information that stays with the reader.

As I mentioned in my review of GUARDED GROUND, this series is an offshoot of the Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mysteries. If you want to know just how Becky and Flynn fit into the extended Holmes legend, I highly recommend reading those books by Anna Elliott and Charles Veley.
