Yaaaaasss this book is delightfully dark, and full of gore. Which if you didn’t know makes me happy! Scary as hell. With a killer, pun intended, story as well! I wanted more Cenobites, but Frank was monster enough in the end! Easy 5/5 I cannot wait to read more Barker in the future!!

Fantastic! Enjoyed it immensely. I’m eager to watch Hellraiser again. I liked the differences in the book, but loved that the Cenobites were about equally unexplained as in the movie.

(Have to suspend my usual sjw attitude given the subject matter here; suffice to say don't read this novella without a serious look at TW's)
The writing here is fine, the character dynamics are decent and the plot is pretty mediocre until the end, where things pull together quite well. The concepts are damn cool, and certainly can be credited for the story's successes.
Everything from Frank's quest for hidden knowledge to the Cenobites themselves and their need to hear a confession at the end... incredible. I can think of half a dozen stories which ripped off bits of this, without even having seen any Hellraiser movies.
Satisfyingly inventive and original, despite the somewhat lacklustre shell.
