This one was meh.

Arthur fights off against a Kraken and also dealing with people labelling him things after the last volume and well troubles in Atlantis too but when monsters from past start attacking called Giant-born he has to fight them and well knock them doing back to where they came from and there is also a part with Hercules and it was kinda bad and I didn't like that but then comes Diana and they fight more Giant-born and at that stage what was supposed to be a volume filled with potential it misses out big time but then again Arthur and Mera and Diana battling greek-myths were great and it also gives an insight into their friendship.

And then the part with Swamp thing was confusing and weird but good battle between the two.. honestly that part was super unnecessary now that I think about it but good to see Arthur interact beyond the tradition JL line up but that also had potential but was wasted upon.

The whole volume feels like a story with great ideas but poor execution and they could have used more character exploration rather than explaining threats so vaguely. Anyways a meh, good one time read but the art was nice for the most part.

Enjoyable, though I haven't had a moment of desperately wishing this creative team to stay together forever. However, elements are pulling together.

I'm not real happy about the author change but I still enjoyed this. (Wonder Woman helped.)

Also, I give these two permission to become BFFs:

You can tell Geoff Johns is missing and this is still a good story. I'm surprised how much I enjoy these Aquaman stories. Maybe it's about him being blond, I don't know but Aquaman is awesome.

Nice! Loving the ever-expanding universe of Atlantis, long overdue.

Can't wait for when the artists figure out how women's bodies (+clothing) work

Arthur, buddy, we're in it for the long haul.

Short Version: This book is pretty fun, nothing else.

The first three, maybe four, issues really shine. They continue the New52 tradition of having Aquaman be a badass, which im fine with. There's also some nice small moments about Arthur adjusting to being a king and an issue about him and Mera attending a high school reunion. On those issues alone I would give it a 4. Then it leads (kind of abruptly) into a story about the Hell of Atlantis being opened. After this its pretty much all action with Aquaman having to fight different creatures/characters from Greek mythology. While it opened the door for creative monster design, it felt awkwardly similar to the New52 Wonder Woman series (big shocker that she shows up).
At this point, the action stopped being fun and started being relentless. The fun moments of Aquaman joking are gone; the interesting moments of him being king are gone. If the art had been better I think the non-stop action would've been fine, but its standard DC style (and to me it didn't have the clearest sense of space).

Theres enough good stuff in here for me to say it wasn't a waste of time but also enough boring stuff for me to say i'm glad it was a rental. Though i'll probably come back for Vol. 6 to see if Parker can keep a good story going.

Not as good as the previous volumes, but not bas either. Still living Aquaman. One of my favorites of the New 52s.

This book fulfills two sections of my 2015 reading challenge - a book I read in a day, and a graphic novel.
