Very enjoyable first effort by Sarah MacLean. I enjoyed the sensible heroine, the lack of histrionics, and, of course, the dashing hero who's not a total dummy. I've read and enjoyed two of SL's novellas, but this is my first full-length novel. It will certainly not be my last!

As far as romance novels go, this one was very enjoyable. A bit cliche, but extremely amusing. I would definitely recommend!

This was an absolute delight to read! The premise of Callie having a list of scandalous things she wants to do was so much fun. I adored the antics her and Gabriel got into. The romance was incredibly swoon worthy and well done as well. I was giggling and kicking my feet throughout this entire book. Gabriel grovels, as he fucking should, and he calls her his empress

I'm going to remember that this was an early effort and that I've quite enjoyed the later ones, but I was really not a fan. So much potential and so much jackassery!

I think I was especially irritated because every sex scene felt unpleasant and disrespectful, starting with the "let me insult you and then get you off to show you that actually I value you after all." WHAT. It really didn't get better. If she's not going to be badass, at least show some self-respect, for heaven's sakes.

Apparently my standards for hella-genre-romance have become darn high in two months - I expect more now!

This book was hilarious. Hilariously anachronistic, maybe, but also just genuinely funny. AND THERE WAS TONS OF SEX! LOTS OF DIFFERENT STUFF GOING ON! IT WAS GREAT! That was pretty much the anachronistic part - I seriously doubt that you can get away with being fingerbanged in a gentleman's club's fencing studio without getting even a little bit caught (like only one guy in London is into fencing? Shenanigans). But you know, whatevs. Good times, this.

Consider me a devoted Sarah MacLean fan! This is the third book of hers that I've read and I just want to keep going. The way she writes her female characters is so enjoyable! They're so much more than what you see in the first few pages of the book and by the end each have found themselves to be more than they ever thought they could be. Yes, in part this is due to the men they fall in love with but it's also in larger part due to the choices and decisions they make. Each woman seems to finally take charge of her life and Calpurnia Allendale is no exception. I found her to be so charming, witty and at times her heartbreak just killed me. Ralston is the very picture of a devastating rake with some measure of hardness and arrogance but not offputting in any way. Their journey is fraught with adventure, wit, temper and passion. I enjoyed every minute and will jump right into the second book of the series.
