It’s hard to describe how much I enjoyed this book. A deftly woven, multi-generational story spanning decades, it’s a masterpiece of prose. As the pieces of the story came into focus, I couldn’t put it down through the entire second half.

This book was sent to me as part of a book club, otherwise I would likely have overlooked it. I am so glad it found its way to me instead.

This book is now the best reading experience I have a ever had. Even though I was upset, cry, and had to walk away at times to reflect. 1/3 of the way through, I already felt that I needed to reread the beginning, because of the perspective I had gained.
It hit me deep in my heart, not only because I greatly cared for the character and felt pained that they would never know the sacrifices made for them, but because it made me think of my own family and the love they have for me. The sacrifices I don't know the full story of, made for me and my siblings.
I needed to call my mom after this.

Best book I have read in a long time. Artfully written, unique way of telling a story that spans over a century, well defined three-dimensional characters with flaws who grow through the story, and beautiful homage to the theme of trees and climate change. Highly recommend.
