3.5 ⭐️ Most of the memoir I was filled with anger and shock at how some people can be such neglectful parents. Seeing the growth of children who become more responsible and parental figures than their actual parents is heartbreaking. By halfway through the memoir, I was so numb by the Walls’ dysfunctional parents actions and inactions. Jeannette also shows no matter how a family history is, sometimes blood is stronger than anything and love is truly unconditional (even though it appears very one sided).

I read this in High School, remember really liking it. Will be giving it a re-read one day.

Interesting because it's a true story. Not my regular genre, but a decent read.

Surprising, sweet, funny, shocking and sad.... This is a book I will think about for many, many years, each time drawing a new conclusion. It is a demonstration of the power of love, individual courage, and the trials of defining yourself as separate from your family and parents. Jeannette Walls is a remarkable woman with a story that has lessons for all.

I am still crying. A perfect book. It is so hard to rate a memoir because it’s someone’s life, and you have to live it in your own way.

How am I supposed to write a review for this book. How can I bring forth words that can possibly describe what this book contains.

For starters I am not exaggerating. This book is that good. I don't believe in anyone who can bring The Glass Castle any justice.

But I'll try.

Consider your self lucky to be here. The Glass Castle is going to teach you about life in ways that so many live without realizing. It may only be a memoir but it carries so many beautiful messages. The messages are threaded into the story so unconsciously, that you never even see the needle coming. You look at the other end and suddenly, you have something that no one else had, a lesson.

For different people it will mean different things, for me it was forgiveness, and a whole lot more. For you, it may come to mean something entirely different.

Have you ever had the experience where a friend tells you a funny story from their childhood but it's really a story of abuse/neglect/trauma? That was this entire memoir.
