i get why it's the favorite Austen novel of so many. the characters have so much life-the writing, is so good that it doesn't feel like the story is centered around Emma alone. although in the middle when the characters grew distant it bored me ngl. i can write an entire book about why the existence of mrs. elton wasn't required and was absolutely annoying. i even threw my copy once across the room because she annoyed me so much at one point with all her 'maple grove' talk- 
overall-it was a decent read.
