This is the second book I have read from the author and I must say she is a very good storyteller. Recommend this book to all suspense/thriller readers.

Strong writing, excellent characters, nice job of contrasting voices of Rizzoli and Mila (who eventually intersect near the end of the story). Plot was skillfully woven, questions were answered at the right time, not too soon or too late. Plot twists were well placed and well paced. Rizzoli took center stage in this story, and she was portrayed admirably as a new mother who was conflicted by her change from her old life of no kid, no husband, and full time cop to her new situation.

This one was my favorite, so far, though it's a bit longer due to the multiple threads, and depressing because it's about human sex trafficking. There's a ton of suspense/tension in this book, and though it seems a bit over the top, including the massacre of a house of people, a hostage situation, birth of a baby, and kidnapping, among other things, Tess Gerritsen had me on a hook. I also appreciated the depiction of Rizzoli as a new mother, overwhelmed with love for her child, but struggling with her identity shift and the expectations of what "good" mothers do.

Good, as always. I deducted a point from an otherwise 4 star book for problematic mommy wars issues and for referring to sex slaves as having an occupation. That just really bothered me.

A fast paced thriller. Rizzoli's domestic problems were a bit irritating. I am glad that Maura's role was limited and Father Brophy was not there.
