This book was easy to read, a great holiday book. The reason it dropped a bit for me was because there wasn't much to the story that I wasn't expecting, it felt quite predictable

If you liked the characters & emotional development of Hook, Line, and Sinker, this one is very reminiscent of that. Although, I would say Rita has far more baggage than Hannah did. So, instead it feels more like two people figuring out their issues and emotional baggage together. There is less spice in this one, but the dirty talk is 10/10.
Character Development, Insta Love, Reverse Grumpy/Sunshine, 3 1/2 🔥
“One of the main reasons she didn’t date was fear of rejection, fear of someone she actually liked seeing the worst in her. Or, worse, the best in her—and deeming it lacking.”

It’s no “It Happened One Summer” but it’s pretty close. Tessa always knows how to keep her readers coming back for more with her tall dark and handsome men along with quirky women.
Graphic: Cursing, Panic attacks/disorders, Sexual content, Gaslighting, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Alcoholism, Mental illness, Trafficking, Grief, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury, and Abandonment

A fun start to the series. I really liked the book after the first few chapters. It started a bit slow in my opinion, but that was just because of the setup required since the series will follow each of the family members over time. By the time they ended up in Hurley, I was invested and enjoyed it from there. While still not my favorite of the Tessa Bailey books, it was for sure worth a read.
Graphic: Cursing and Sexual content
Moderate: Violence and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Death of parent and Alcohol
As with Tessa's other books the sexual content is very explicit and is a constant throughout the entirety of the book and does typically involve cursing. The rest of the content warnings do contain minor spoilers:ecravens's review against another edition
