I went into this knowing it would be really weird. I flipped through copies of the first couple volumes and that weirdness was what made me want to read the series. The plot itself is decent, but the art and the monsters/representation of insane is what keeps me reading. Books don't generally skeeve me out, but because this is visual, it's closer to a movie and there were definitely panels in there that grossed me out. There is no holding back on the gross-out factor here, whether body horror or creatures made out of fingers or anything else. The front cover of this volume gives you a pretty good sampling of what to expect in terms of intensity I would say, but definitely not breadth.
