I thought it approached the complexities of having a partner- who- isn't- out in a thoughtful and digestible way. I liked the friendships and how everyone grew to support each other. Aunt Linda broke my heart.

This is such a lovely read.  I really enjoyed this book and all the characters it had to offer.  The romance wasn’t overly angsty and the ending was super cute.  It was a bit of a slow burn seeing only parts of there summer together mixed in with current day.

Not to say the character development wasn't strong for all the characters but it was especially strong for Will.  Seeing him accept himself and not caring so much about what other’s want of him or what they expect of him—instead he took his own path.

There were still sad moments and a side character death that absolutely is devastating.

Lara is easily a favorite; naturally I hated her at first but she won me over.  As long as you're on Lara's side you'll be fine.  Out of all the friendships in this book Lara and Oliver are hands down my favorite.  They had a bit of a rough start but when they teamed up they were basically unstoppable.

Hurt/Comfort
Happy Ending
Amazing Humor
Slow Burn (Kinda)
Great Friendships

I love this author. Another great book about how we can grow and mature and not another example of the toxicity currently present in YA. So sweet. I loved it.

This dealt with some really difficult themes, especially  the grief of losing someone close to you. I really loved Ollie as a character, and it was nice to see his complex emotions explored throughout the book. On the other hand I have a complex relationship with Will I love and hate him at the same time. He did grow on me slightly by the end of the book as he worked through his own emotions and came to accept himself.

Obviously the romance of this story is beautiful, and I am obsessed with Will and Ollie. But, Aunt Linda’s story line in this book is what really brought this book together for me. So often romance books forget about the rest of the family involved in someone’s life, but family was a major part of the plot in this book. I cried several times during this book and I have never even been closely affected by cancer, I cannot imagine what it would do to those who have. Absolutely beautifully written, I loved that story line. The only gripe I have is that Lara’s character development seems fake. She never apologizes for her actions, she doesn’t even seem to change. She just suddenly has an excuse for why she was so mean to everyone around her. We’re supposed to like her by the end but I just could not do it, she needed to be held accountable instead of consistently coddled by her friends. Anyway, this book is very good. It turns out I am a big fan of Sophie Gonzales.
