I had few expectations for this book, but I devoured it in three sittings more or less. The premise appealed to me going off of the blurb, but the actual executed reality was breathtaking. It’s a story of hope, despair and persistence set against the rugged terrains of the UK as the world starts to reopen after Covid. It’s also non fiction, so I can’t really comment on protagonists because they’re real people. BUT, Raynor Winn does a beautiful job painting a portrait of a comfortable love between two devoted people as they navigate their changing lives. I just loved this so much.

I'd give it more stars if I could. So sad at the beginning but I adored this book. Fun, adventurous and heartwarming, but her shockingly in-depth descriptions of blisters will put you off your lunch. Another win for Raynor.

A lovely read to dip in and out of on a long journey or whilst outdoors. This memorable and comforting story discusses the importance of the climate crisis, biodiversity, and rural communities. The love between the author and her husband is beautiful, bringing tears to my ears at the meaningful ending. This book was almost too relaxing as I often fell into a sleep whilst reading, whilst important topics were explored with kindness. Stunning and lively descriptions of wildlife, in the present and the author's memory.
