Delightfully unsubtly fat-positive, it's like the whole point of the book. It's a really fun, cute adventure, but we still get to see Skye's very realistic struggles with body image and harassment. I also really appreciate that Skye is explicitly bisexual even though the love interest is a guy so it doesn't "matter" to the plot - like yeah, make her queer! Why not?

Also, oh my god,
the super hot love interest guy is ALSO BISEXUAL? I love it, I need more bisexual male characters.

I don't always love fluffy romances, but I adored this book. the author really does a great job of setting the stage for Sky, and crafting loveable characters. The romance plotline can reduce my enjoyment of a story, but it didn't in this case. I absolutely loved this feel-good story from start to finish.

๐Ÿ“˜The Gist ๐Ÿ“˜: Sky enters a K-pop reality TV show competition for don't and dance. She's determined to be her own hero, showing off her incredible song and dance skills and not compromising on her weight. Unexpectedly, she finds a little romance along the way!

๐Ÿ“’Representation๐Ÿ“’: fat mc, m-spec mc, bisexual mc, Korean American mc, wlw sc

๐Ÿ’• For readers looking for ๐Ÿ’•: fluffy feel good stories, confident characters, drama, K-pop, celebrity romance

I wanted to love this so much, but i just couldnt get into the writing style. To be fair, i am not the target audience, since i am 20 and not in my teens anymore.
Let's start with the good: I feel like it is such an important book, and i loved the asian, fat, and queer rep. I feel like the romance was super cute and did have chemistry, and i was very interested in what the competitions was going to turn out like!!! I had a lot of fun reading the book, and finished it in like a day. And the queer rep!!!! i was so exited that sky, who is bi
ends up with a bi guy!!! i am also a bi girl dating a bi guy!!! thats so cool!!!

The bad: The book has a point to make (about body positivity and fatphobia), and it makes it clear. Especially at the beginning i kept thinking "ok, people judge you because you are fat, we get it, can we move on with the story please?". The characters also talk like they are buzzfeed writers? idk how to explain it, but they sound fake and millenial-like. The writing was very juvenile, which is great for a ya i guess, but i just didnt like it.
The ugly:  the audiobook sucks. I am sorry to the va, but she sounded to me like the watchmojo lady, and that kept making me annoyed. I feel like it could maybe have been better if i had read it physically, but sadly, i wasnt able to, so i had to deal with her
In conclusion, if you want to read it, please dont let me discourage you. It is a fun, light, and fluffy read, with great representation, but the writing can be awkward at times. And dont listen to the audiobook, please.

This is a really cute book. Like yes, the plot is a bit silly and wish-fulfillment-y and a few things are way too easily resolved but overall the book is so positive and charming that I didn't care. The main character and her friends were great, and I just overall had fun reading this.

This was a fun, light hearted book that also touched on some important social issues. Escape into the world of a KPOP competition where Skye is trying to prove to her mother and the world that a fat woman can succeed. Got through this quickly and absolutely loved it!
